Understanding Chaplaincy
The modern definition of "Chaplain" is quite diverse. However, in the case of Navigation Christian Care, we simply seek to provide spiritual care for those in a time of need. There are many different types of environments chaplains work in. Most environments are secular so chaplains seek to be a presence but not a focus of care. In the secular environment there are a diverse range of emotional and spiritual needs. The chaplain is trained to listen to those in need and recognize the level of care those in need wish to receive.
The chaplain is trained to be sensitive to psychological, sociological and traumatic environments where their presence is needed. Not to bring with them an agenda but to be a presence to accept where they are invited in to emotional support, comfort and care. Chaplains perform at many different levels, some chaplain are clergy, some are lay people and some are simply seeking to be an ear to listen and provide the most important part of chaplaincy is the ministry of presence.
If you are interested in contributing to our ministry click the link above. Any amount will go to provide a salary for Pastor Haink, resources for the ministry and training materials for interns.
Thank you and may God bless your path,
